Don't fiddle with thermostats. Set your thermostat at 68° or lower for heating and 78° or higher for cooling.
Consider buying low flush toilets: They use 1.28 gallons per flush or less instead of the usual 3 to 5 gallons.
Check your irrigation system. Repair leaks, damaged sprinkler heads, and adjust sprinklers to avoid overspray.
Routinely replace AC filters. Clogged, dirty filters block normal airflow and reduce a system's efficiency.
